I wasn’t able to find pizza sauce in bulk at Sam’s today so I decided to buy a bunch of tomato paste instead and make it from scratch. I found this recipe on AllRecipes.com (my go-to site for cooking ideas) and it is delish!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Original recipe makes 1 pizza (I quadrupled the recipe and it made 3 pints)
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
6 fluid ounces warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon anchovy paste (optional)
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
salt to taste

I don’t keep anchovy paste on hand and so I omitted that. The reviews on AllRecipes encourage you to include it to balance out the sweetness of the honey. Instead, I just put half as much honey as it called for and I think it turned out great. Next time, I probably won’t put the store-bought shredded Parmesan in it. If I add any cheese at all, I might add the (shock!) powdered Parm instead.
